Linh Thong Temple

Linh Thong Temple

Linh Thong Pagoda is a famous spiritual destination in Son Tay, Hanoi. It boasts ancient and serene architecture, deeply imbued with the imprint of Vietnamese Buddhism. Visiting here, tourists can immerse themselves in the peaceful atmosphere, admire the majestic Buddha statues, and learn about the pagoda's long-standing cultural history.

Besides worshiping Buddha, Linh Thong Pagoda in Son Tay also enshrines two kings, Ngo Quyen and Phung Hung, at the Two Kings Temple (Den Hai Vua). In front of the pagoda stands a stone statue of Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva facing the vast space, creating an impressive highlight for the pagoda's landscape. To the left of the pagoda is the Luc Giac pavilion with six pillars and two tiled roofs, and a stone turtle statue below. Symmetrically on the right is the bell tower, creating balance in the architectural layout.

The Three Jewels sanctuary (Tam Bao) is made entirely of wood with many intricately carved statues. The main hall displays the four Chinese characters "Phật Pháp Tăng Bảo" (Buddha, Dharma, Sangha - the Three Jewels), along with gilded statues of the Three Buddhas of Past, Present, and Future, Amitabha Buddha, Shakyamuni Buddha, and various Bodhisattvas. Below and to the right of the Tam Bao are enshrined the Thousand-Armed and Thousand-Eyed Avalokiteśvara and the Arhats. Below and to the left of the Tam Bao are enshrined Quan Am Thi Kinh (a Vietnamese adaptation of Avalokiteśvara) and the Arhats. Additionally, the Tam Bao also has altars for Duc Ong (a tutelary spirit), Duc Thanh Hien (a virtuous sage), and the Eight Diamond Deities (Bat bo kim cuong).
